For my second day in London I really wanted to take a tour in Portobello Road even if I knew that not every shop was open as they are during the week end. I went there by taxi but as soon I started walking I started also to freeze! The temperature was around zero but it was windy and a little snowy so I just spent there half an hour walking and shopping. I went straight to one of my favourite shops Punkyfish were I bought some tshirts and than I took another taxi to go to Brick Lane. Brick Lane is quite far from the centre and only recently has become a “place to be” in the city, some years ago this part of the city was really disreputable. Brick Lane is known for its vintage shops, were you can find almost everything, and the curry houses. In most of these shops you will just find old stuffs and as you know something that is old is not said that is also vintage! The best shop is Beyond Retro, don't miss it! The main problem was that I was literally freezing so at the end I had to resign..after lunch I took a walk in Selfridge and Harrods because it was impossible to stroll around! Luckly In these days I had the chance to try three amazing restaurants that I really want you to try as soon as you go in London.
The first one is called YAUATCHA and is in Soho, they propose a renewed chinese cuisine, a mix between chinese cuisine and novelle cuisine I would say..it was delicious! A good friend of my boyfrind and me took us there and he ordered for everybody this has given me the chance to try delicious dishes thay maybe I would have never ordered like the sweet and sour chicken paws! Unfortunately I have no pictures of the dishes because the one I did are horrible but next time I will show you everything! Forgive me but I was too concentrated on the food!
The second restaurant is the one I chose yesterday for lunch and is called Streak & Co, to tell you the truth I went there by chance..I was hungry and freezed so I just went in to the first restaurant that I found! But I’ve been lucky because I’ve eaten some succulent bbq sauce chop ribs!
The last tasty experience that I want to share with you is the one I had yesterday night at Bombay Brasserie. If you like Indian cuisine you can't miss this fashionable restaurant open since 1982 that has paved the way for all other indian restaurants in London!
Per il mio secondo giorno a Londra ero decisa a fare un giro per Portobello Road anche se ben sapevo che non avrei trovato tutti i negozi aperti come nei week end. Ho comunque preso un taxi e ho raggiunto la mia destinazione in pochiminuti. Piccolo problema, non avevo considerato il fattore freddo..anzi, gelo! Ho iniziato a congelare dopo pochi minuti e quindi ho deciso di andare dritta alla meta, ho raggiunto uno dei miei negozi preferiti, Punkyfish, dove ho comprati qualche tshirt. Ho fatto una piccola passeggiata e dopo una mezzora ho deciso di riprendere il taxi per dirigermi verso Brick Lane. La storia di questo quartiere è di recente rinnovo, fino a poco fa era un quartiere malfamato invece oggi pare sia diventato un quartiere alternativo e molto in. Brick Lane è oggi famosa per le sue Curry House e i negozi specializzati in articoli vintage. In molti di questi negozi non troverete altro che roba vecchia (e vecchio non vuol dire vintage!) ma vi consiglio di andare da Beyond Retro. Il problema è che nonostante tutto la temperatura sotto zero non perdona e alla fine alle prime avvisaglie di raffreddore ho dovuto rassegnarmi ai centri commerciali. Ho fatto un giretto da Selfridge e da Harrods prima di tornare in Hotel per l’ora del the.
Fortunatamente in questi giorni ho avuto la possibilità di provare tre ristoranti eccezionali che voglio consigliarvi con tutto il cuore per il vostro prossimo soggiorno a Londra.
Il primo si chiama YAUATCHA e si trova a pochi passi da Soho, qui viene proposta una cucina cinese rinnovata, direi un misto tra i classici cinesi e la nouvelle cuisine. Un carissimo amico mio e del mio fidanzato ci ha portato in questo ristorante e grazie al fatto che ha fatto lui l’ordinazione per tutti ho assaggiato piatti che altrimenti non avrei mai e poi mai ordinato! Ad esempio le zampe di pollo in agrodolce! Non storcete il naso..non sapevo lo fossero e grazie a questo le ho assaggiate! Sono deliziose! La carne più morbida che abbia mai mangiato! Purtroppo tutte le foto che ho fatto ai piatti sono venute malissimo ma vi prometto che ritornerò al piú presto e le pubblicherò! Scusate ero troppo concentrata sul cibo!
Il secondo ristorante è stato il mio rifugio dal freddo ieri all’ora di pranzo, ci sono capitata per caso ma la fortuna mi ha assistito. Da Steak & Co. ho mangiato delle succulente costolette di maiale in salsa barbeque che difficilmente dimenticherò!
L’ultimo ristorante di cui voglio parlarvi è la celeberrima Bombay Brasserie dove ho cenato ieri sera. Se amate la cucina indiana non potete assolutamente perdervi questo ristorante che delizia i palati londinesi dal 1982!
