MARRAKECH - le rêve du printemps

Se ancora non avete prenotato le vacanze di Pasqua vi consiglio con tutto il cuore di andare a Marrakech. Marrakech è un vero incanto, i suoi scorci e la sua atmosfera rendono questa città una pietra preziosa nel deserto. Marrakech non vanta un gran numero di monumenti e il modo miglior e per visitarla è quello di camminare per le sue strade e lasciarsi travolgere dai colori, dalla gente e dai profumi che si respirano. La prima volta che sono arrivata nella Città Rossa ho immediatamente perso il fiato e voglio consigliarvi un giretto di circa un paio d’ore a cui potete dedicarvi per avere una prima impressione della città. Non potete che partire dalla piazza principale Jemaa El Fna dove verso le 16 ogni giorno si radunano centinaia di bancarelle, qui vengono cucinati e serviti piatti tipici della tradizione marocchina in un tripudio di danze, urla per attirare i clienti, colori delle vesti delle donne e sorrisi di chi si lascia trascinare. È suggestivo anche prendere un caffè su una delle terrazze della piazza, come il famoso Café de France o il più sfortunato Café Argana, luogo dell’attentato terroristico del 2011, da queste terrazze potrete assistere allo spettacolo della piazza come fosse una pièce teatrale e sorseggiare un buon the marocchino. Vicino alla piazza non perdetevi il minareto simbolo di Marrakech, la Moschea Koutoubia. Detto questo ovviamente eccoci a parlare dei Souk, i tipici mercati arabi che si trovano a nord di Jemaa El Fna, qui troverete di tutto e di più. Dal mio ultimo viaggio sono rientrata con metà dell’arredamento di casa mia, meravigliose lampade di metallo forgiato che creano giochi di luci e ombre, tappeti berberi dai colori e dalla manifattura unica, vasi decorati e due statue fatte a mano che sorreggono un tavolo di cristallo. Cercate i negozi di design per interni in stile marocchino moderno rimarrete a bocca aperta, si trovano tra il Souk Haddadin (la parte riservata alla lavorazione del ferro) e quello della ceramica, li riconoscerete dalla bellezza e dall’unicità dei loro oggetti. Vi consiglio di chiedere una guida direttamente al vostro hotel in modo che sia una persona fidata e che vi possa condurre attraverso i vari percorsi della città, in una giornata riuscirete a vedere tutto ciò che conta. Ricordatevi di chiedere di visitare i giardini della città, tra tutti i Giardini Majorelle attualemente di proprietà di Yves Saint Laurent ma aperti al pubblico e famosi proprio grazie agli accostamenti di colore che lo stilista ha strutturato.  In ultimo vi consiglio una visita alla Medersa Ben Youssef, l’antica scuola coranica situata nel cuore della medina, chiedete alla vostra guida di raccontarvi tutto di come venivano fatti studiare i giovani, come vivevano e soprattutto chiedete di leggere per voi qualche verso del corano inciso sui muri. Per quanto riguarda il pernottamento se non volete immergervi nei giardini del lussuosissimo Mamounia ricordatevi che la fortuna di Marrakech è stata fatta dai Riad, case convertite a boutique hotel all’interno della Medina, dove si possono trovare alloggi per tutte le tasche. Io personalmente la prima volta ho alloggiato in un Riad molto speciale, La Sultana, uno degli hotel più belli della città e con un servizio e una struttura da favola ma voglio consigliarvi un posto che ha meno pretese ed è ugualmente suggestivo e magico: il Riad Dar Mo’Da. Al Dar Mo’Da troverete quattro suite, ad ognuna di esse è stato dato il nome del colore dominante: Bianca, Verde, Nera e ovviamente Rossa. L’arredamento è marocchino contemporaneo (come quello del negozio di cui vi parlavo), i tappeti berberi arricchiscono tutti i pavimenti e i giochi di luce delle finestre in ferro battuto traforato regalano a questo Riad un’atmosfera decisamente unica.  Durante le riprese del secondo film di Sex And The City parte del cast ha alloggiato proprio qui, in caso non lo sapeste anche se il film dovrebbe essere ambientato ad Abu Dhabi è stato girato a Marrakech (tante ripree sono state fatte al Mamounia e del Nikki Beach) dove lo stato si è dimostrato più clemente verso i toni delle quattro ragazze di New York. Dopo aver visitato la città concedetevi una giornata al Nikki Beach, prendete un taxi e in dieci minuti arriverete in un’oasi in mezzo al deserto. Aperitivo in stile Saint Tropez, menù internazionale, musica e una meravigliosa piscina renderanno la vostra giornata speciale. A me piace arrivare stappare una bottiglia di vino rosé e prendere il sole aspettando che l’atmosfera si riscaldi per poi ballare fino al tramonto!

If you still haven't booked your Easter holidays I recommend you with all my heart to go to Marrakech. Marrakech is a real charm, his views and atmospheres make this city a precious stone in the desert. Marrakech doesn’t have a large number of monuments and the best way to visit it is to walk through the streets and be overwhelmed by the colours, by the people and by the perfume that you breathe. The first time I arrived in the Red City I immediately understood that it was breathtaking and I recommend a stroll around for a few hours where you can get a first impression of the city. Start  from the main square Jemaa El Fna where every day a thousand market stalls gather, here everybody cooks and serves the typical dishes of the Moroccan tradition in a blaze of dances, shouts to attract customers, the colours of the garments and smiles of those who let themselves into this mood. You can also grab a coffee on one of the terraces of the square, such as the famous Café de France or the unlucky Café Argana, site of the terrorist attack of 2011, from these terraces you can enjoy the spectacle of the square as a spectator of a theatrical pièce. Don't miss the Minaret, the symbol of Marrakech Koutoubia Mosque. Now it’s time to talk about the super famous Souk, the traditional Arab markets located in the northern part of Jemaa El Fna, here you will find everything and more than everything. from my firts trip here I came home with half of my home decor, beautiful metal forged lamps that create games of light and shadow, Berber carpets with unique colours and manufacture, decorated vases and handcrafted  two statues holding a glass table. Look for interior designer shops that have a modern Moroccan style, usually they are between the Souk Haddadin (the part reserved to the manufacture of iron) and ceramics, you will recognise them  by the beauty and uniqueness of their objects. I suggest you ask a guide directly to your hotel so that he will be a trusted person and you will be able to be lead through various routes of the city, in a well organized day you will see everything. Remember to ask to visit the gardens of the city, above all the Majorelle Garden currently owned by Yves Saint Laurent, but still opened to the public. The last thing that I want to recommend you is a visit to the Medersa Ben Youssef, the ancient Koranic school located in the heart of the Medina, ask your guide to tell you all about how young people who have studied here, how they lived and ask for you to read some of the engraved sentences on the walls. regarding your stay if you do not want to immerse yourself in the gardens of the super expensive Mamounia remember that Marrakech's fortune has been made by Riad houses converted to boutique hotel within the Medina, where you can find accommodation for all budgets. The first time I've personally stayed in a very special Riad, La Sultana, one of the most beautiful hotels of the city with a service and a fabulous structure but I want to recommend a place that has fewer claims and is equally enchanting and magical: the Riad Dar Mo'Da. At Dar Mo'Da you'll find four suites, each of them was given the name of the dominant colour: Green, White, Black and Red, of course. The decor is contemporary Moroccan (like that of the store which I was talking about), the Berber carpets enrich all floors and the play of light wrought iron window decorations give this Riad highly unique atmosphere. During the filming of the second film of Sex And The City a part of the cast has stayed here. In fact all the movie has been shot here, the ammonia was the girl's hotel and Nikki Beach has been used as set pretending that the girls were at the sea side! Just in case you don't know it.. even if the film should be set in Abu Dhabi it has been shot in Marrakech where the government has proved to be more lenient towards the tones of the four girls of New York. After visiting the town treat yourself with a day at Nikki Beach, take a taxi and in ten minutes you will arrive in an oasis in the middle of the desert. Aperitif in Saint Tropez style, international menu, music and a wonderful a swimming pool will make your day unforgettable and funny. I like to uncork a bottle of rosé wine and sunbathe waiting for the atmosphere to warm up and then dance until sunset!
